Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
We are excited to welcome many of you back and greet others to our school community for the first time. I feel absolutely honored to have been selected to serve as Dartmouth’s principal for the 2018-2019 school year. Even though I am new to Dartmouth, this will be my 20th year in Aurora Public Schools. Prior to coming to Dartmouth, I worked at Lyn Knoll Elementary for 18 years as a classroom teacher, ELA Teacher Leader, Literacy Coach, Preschool Coordinator and Assistant Principal. Last year I had the opportunity to serve as Columbia Middle School’s Assistant Principal and was able to learn about the skills all students need as they enter the secondary level.
A few of my core values include: kindness, integrity, communication, perseverance and building relationships. You will see me model these on a consistent basis. I see potential in all children and make an effort every day to connect with students on a real, personal level. My goal is to support teachers with the right resources in order to provide all students with the knowledge and mental training they need to navigate the world around them and to foster a positive environment that allows our team of students and staff to grow.
I look forward to partnering with each and every one of you to create a safe, caring and academically rich learning environment for every child, every day. There will be ongoing Dartmouth Discussion Meetings throughout the year that will allow us to collaborate on important topics. Our website will be continually updated as well to provide you with current information.
We are excited to see our 1st-5th graders on August 9th and our Preschool-Kinders on August 13th. Our school hours are from 8:30-3:05. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the information in this letter (or in general) as I try to maintain an open door approach.
Here’s to a great year!
Dartmouth Elementary Principal
