Mrs. Jeanne Ulrich, Principal
We would like to welcome you back to another school year and hope you all enjoyed your time with family and friends. As we begin the 2017-2018 school year, I wanted to let you know of some changes we have made to honor the importance of academics throughout the school year.
This year we will not celebrate or have any classroom parties during the academic day. We have decided that these celebrations should be after the school day with family/friends. So, please do not send any treats or come to school with treats in hopes of celebrating your child. This will also include, not having holiday parties for Halloween, Christmas, and Valentines Day. We are also not showing any movies and/or having snacks throughout the school day.
Our academic day needs be focused on the learning in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies. This year we are introducing new Math and Science curriculums. Our new Math series is Bridges and for Science we will be supplementing the Foss Kits with units from the Smithsonian Institution. We will continue our focus on Short Constructive Response and Writing proficiency. The district has also adopted a new diagnostic test called iReady that we will use throughout the year in academic areas.
We look forward to another year with you and your student. We were proud to see our scores go up in the state PARCC test and look forward to our commitment of meeting student’s academic needs. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time.
